RADAR Systems - Coverage
Radar and radio coverage analysis:
- radar coverage analysis depending on radar site and target parameters
- current VHF coverage of Croatian part of Adriatic sea
Radar coverage analysis depending on radar site and target parameter
Radar coverage analysis requires calculation of path loss for every single point in space, or, in other words speaking, finding differences from a free space propagation. Simulation is carried using 3D terrain digitized map, containing geographical information specific to that kind of area, e. g. forest, sea, low vegetation, urban area etc. Depending on specified radar system, site location and target features, radar coverage area is calculated and displayed in terms of detection probability.
Current VHF coverage of Croatian part of Adriatic sea
Coverage display takes into account current radio sites, international and ITU recommendations, as well as client's demands. Following procedures were undertaken:
- radio sites geographical location
- measurement of effective output power and radiation (antenna beam) directions
- measurement of antenna system losses
- noise and interference measurement
- reception field strength to fine tune simulation data
